From The Distiller: ” This high proof, Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon was named for Henry McKenna, the Irish immigrant who adapted his family’s whiskey recipe to work the grains he found in Kentucky. Henry McKenna is the longest aged Bottled-in-Bond available today, resting in the barrel through 40 Kentucky seasons. Critics agree that this is perfectly balanced Bourbon.”

Review & Score

Nose: Leads heavily with spice and wood but dulls into sweet notes of vanilla and caramel.

Palate: Muddled spice, dried wood, dark stewed fruit, and caramel cream.

Body: Strong, like you would expect for a 100 proof bourbon, but also packed with bold flavor proportionately.

Finish: Long and strong with notes of ethanol indicative of its proof. Wood notes pull through with a nice barrel singe on the end.

Conclusion: A solid budget bourbon at 100 proof. At that price, it’s difficult to find a bourbon that hits such bold notes so nicely. We would definitely recommend a purchase if you are able to find one at a reasonable price.
