Featuring a new Bushmills Irish cask finish, Diamond Peak is the latest Rocky Mountain Single Malt to join Stranahan’s core lineup and will be available nationally.
In keeping with Stranahan’s commitment to innovation in the American Single Malt category, the pioneering Colorado distillery is reintroducing its beloved Diamond Peak. Fans will remember the original Diamond Peak as a limited-edition single malt batch that was double distilled in a hand-selected blend of four Rocky Mountain barleys then aged in virgin-charred American white-oak char #3 barrels. The reintroduced Diamond Peak will feature a different unique finish curated by Head Distiller Owen Martin each year. Each yearly batch of Diamond Peak will join the brand’s core expression lineup with a curated flavor profile and availability in national retailers.
The 2022 batch of Diamond Peak combines flavors from around the globe. Like all Stranahan’s expressions, Diamond Peak begins with 100% malted barley. After being aged in American oak barrels for two to seven years, the liquid is transferred to Bushmills Irish single malt whiskey casks, where it ages for up to four additional years. Finally, the whiskey is cut to proof with pristine Rocky Mountain water from Eldorado Springs and non-chill filtered. The result is a complex profile containing a nose of butterscotch, cereal sweetness and well-oiled leather, and a palette of earthy grain flavors accented with hints of toffee.
